Photos of the day at NECC08

Al Upton shows how creative you can be with an interactive whiteboard.......with thanks to David Warlick.

Yes, finally a chance to meet and greet Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach and her family, at the Gourmet Geek's Texan Hogroast.

NECC08

Well they bill this as one of the biggest if not the biggest Educational IT Conference in the World and it certainly lives up to its reputation - it is huge!!!! However by comparison the Blogger's Cafe is a mall corner on an upper walkway..... but look who's here today.
Brian Crosby, Jeff Utecht, David Jakes, Dean Shareski, Marcie Hull, Will Richardson to name but a few .... better to re name it Power Bloggers Cafe

They are on their way!

Over a Starbucks Latte at Bristol Airport MD and CK plan their day - To Newark,Cleveland and on to San Antonio.
Unfortunately departure was delayed by 45 minutes and even as the guys enjoyed the flight,MrH was hoping that he may get moved to the direct flight from Newark to San Antonio that he wanted rather than routing via Cleveland ...... and......result it came to pass. ( alsotime to catch the Edubloggercon on Edtechgtalk's Ustream.tv It's Elementary feed

They all got into the airport at around 7.15pm Central Standard Time
As with all bloggers and geeky people Mr H got all the cabling sorted out at the hotel...
Enough time to fire off this blog post before looking to eat!

Cuddly Kiwi and Mini Dylan'The Dragon' have a quick chat while preparing their journey to NECC08 in San Antonio on Saturday 28th June. They have let Paul into some of their travel plans, however some things they are keeping very much to themselves.
One thing that they are hoping to do is catch up with another friend of theirs, Tiny Ted who has been travelling the world since leaving Wales in October 2006, and is currently they believe in Arizona with Dr Alice Christie from this entry on April Chamberlain's blog back in February

Tiny Ted visits with the Post Master in Trussville before beginning the journey to Dr. Alice Christie at Arizona Sate University. She teaches geocaching to teachers around the US and has volunteered to help Tiny Ted find a good home in Arizona.

Thank you for letting Tiny Ted visit Alabama. We will miss him greatly!

NECC San Antonio 2008

Unfortunately a colleague of mine here at the IB is unable to attend NECC 2008 as he had originally planned, this meant that the place was offered to me!! My decision was easy, the chance to go to possibly the biggest and best edublogger, web2.0 educators conference in the world, or attend my Hockey Club annual dinner in Abergavenny............ no contest! I am really looking forward to meeting up with everyone in San Antonio on the weekend of the 29th June to 2nd July. I know that this year there is a large contingent of Oz/NZ teachers ( unfortunately AK - we are doomed to only meet in cyberspace I think!) including Jo McLeay and Sue Tapp ( the drinks are on sujokat!). I will miss the Edubloggercon on the 28th as I won't arrive until around 11pm on 28th, but from then on I am really looking forward to some great PD and listening to some inspiring speakers.
2008) at the end of the month along with some tech bits and pieces I will be packing my Mini Dylan Dragon ( to be renamed Ddraig Goch - Red Dragon for NECCfor the trip to Texas.... really very excited now ;-)

Red Dragon visits.........?

This blog has been set up as a photoblog for images of visits made by Ddraig-Goch in 2008 and beyond.
This follows quite a successful 2007, where I began with a visit to BETT07 with a group from school (Cefn Fforest Primary) who won a national competition run by Making The News (E2BN)- also a brief hello with Chris Fuller. This was followed by trips to The British Council's E-Twinning UK conference at NCSL in Nottingham where we not only attended some excellent seminars, but also was the first time I met f2f with Joe Dale (TES Blog et al) and had longer conversations with Chris Fuller (and Ali)..... plus meeting many other E-Twinners was a great experience.

In June I was asked to run a seminar session at the WITS conference held as Ty Dysgu on podcasting (cheaply!). It was in June when we received a free copy of Dr Bard William's Podcasting for Educators ( an ISTE publication) which included a reference to the Cefn Fforest School podcast.

At the end of August Ddraig-Goch attended the inaugural PodCamp UK at Aston University- here it was great to meet Mark Pentleton ( Coffee Break podcasts) and David Noble (Booruch) as well as Joe Dale.

The end of the year saw a change of job for me and it was as an IB employee that I attended BETT08 and its TeachMeet .....what's in store for 2008?
